    Mary Fitzgerald (b.1956) Her work is influenced by Japanese aesthetics and philosophy. Her work is very linear in nature, and often plays on the basic shape of the square. She studied at NCAD and later in Osaka, Japan, and has been included in many major group exhibitions including the Irish Exhibition of Living Art, ROSC (1988), Re-Dressing Cathleen (Boston, 1997) and numerous Sao Paolo Biennales. Awards include the GPA Award (1983), EV+A Limerick Patron's Award (1986) and the Claremorris Open Art Award (1988). In 1990 she was elected a member of Aosdána and since 1989 has worked on the editorial board of Circa magazine.
