Ghidoni was active in Padua from the mid seventeenth century, where he was member of the Guild in 1674 which was known for its folk-compositions depicting 'pitocchi', from which the nickname comes from. Guidoni worked in Cospicua, and also produced numerous works created for the Basilica of St. Anthony and the Church of Santa Maria dei Servi, in which emerges the remarkable chiaroscuro live next to that of the 'dark' Venetian. However, the fame of the painter was tied to genre subjects. He used Callot models and Romans Bamboccianti translated into pictorial forms without predetermined compositional structures and without particular attention to the sources of light.
