He had his first stay in Gstadt am Chiemsee in 1928 and subsequently had regular stays there. He was a member of the Reich Association of German Artists and the Lower Saxony Artists' Association. He was sent to the Great German Art Exhibition in the House of German Art in Munich from 1938-44. He was bombed out in Munich in 1943 and relocated to Gstadt am Chiemsee.
