    Max Pietschmann was born in 1865.

    Pietschmann studied from 1883-1889 at the Academy in Dresden. His teachers were Leon Pohle, and the history painter Ferdinand Pauwels.

    Later, Pietschmann studied at the Académie Julian in Paris. Pietschmann belonged to the artist colony in Goppeln that specialized in plain-air painting. He joined the Association of Visual Artists, the first secessionist movement in Dresden.

    Pietschmann's oeuvre is in the tradition of symbolism with similarities to Max Klinger and Arnold Böcklin.

    Max Pietschmann passed away in 1952.
