    Max Ferdinand Alfred Stahlschmidt (1854 Berlin to after 1930 Berlin) was a German landscape and animal painter and etcher. He studied at the Berlin Academy (1885-86) under Paul Friedrich Meyerheim and Eugen Bracht, and at the Weimar Art School (1886-92) under Alexander Struys, Albert Brendel, and Max Thedy. He was a member of the Weimar Etching Association and worked freelance in Weimar before becoming a lecturer at the Weimar Art School in 1899. Around 1914, he moved to Berlin-Charlottenburg, where he maintained a studio until 1927.
