    Menchu Lamas (Vigo, Spain, 1954) plays a central role in contemporary Spanish painting. In the eighties, she was part of 'Atlántica', the Galician art group interested in breaking with mannerist modernism, as well as seek to position Galician art on art international scene.

    Her painting is characterized by the use of vibrant colour that moves between intimacy and monumentality, uprising quotidian objects. In order to achieve this, Lamas employs large strokes of primary colours on big formats, always directly influenced by Pop Art and by an iconography based on simple forms.

    Her work forms part of museums and public collections such as Los Bragales (Santander, Spain), Colección de Arte Contemporáneo “La Caixa” (Barcelona, Spain...
