    Michele Cortegiani was an Italian painter known for his seascapes inspired by Sicily and views of Tunisia. He also painted female portraits, genre subjects, and frescoes of churches and theaters. In 1900, he relocated to Tunis, where he worked as a private painting teacher and participated in the Salon Tunisien fine arts exhibitions. During his time in Tunis, he painted frescoes for the city's Casino and Théâtre Municipal, establishing a successful local career.
