In 1914 she received the first orders for portraits of children and began to manufacture small-sized watercolors with motifs from fairy tales and fables. Mili Weber, born Eigtl Berta Emile Weber, lived a "well-protected" childhood in Biel, as she held later. Her half-sister Anna served as a mentor and arts and crafts teacher. After training as a kindergarten teacher, she went to Munich in 1912 for some time. In 1914 she received the first orders for portraits of children and began to manufacture small-sized watercolors with motifs from fairy tales and fables. In 1917 the family moved to St. Moritz, where they moved into a house built by her father and her brother at Via Dimlej. In addition to portraits and watercolors Mili Weber created coloring books of the Grimms' tales, murals and postcards series. In addition, she devoted herself to the decoration of walls, ceilings, beams and furniture... Read full biography
Mili Weber, born Eigtl Berta Emile Weber, lived a "well-protected" childhood in Biel, as she held later. Her half-sister Anna served as a mentor and arts and crafts teacher. After training as a kindergarten teacher, she went to Munich in 1912 for some time. In 1914 she received the first orders for portraits of children and began to manufacture small-sized watercolors with motifs from fairy tales and fables. In 1917 the family moved to St. Moritz, where they moved into a house built by her father and her brother at Via Dimlej. In addition to portraits and watercolors Mili Weber created coloring books of the Grimms' tales, murals and postcards series. In addition, she devoted herself to the decoration of walls, ceilings, beams and furniture and made their house into a kind of Gesamtkunstwerk, which is open to the public today.
