    Minna Stocks was born in 1846 in Schwerin. She first took lessons with the Schwerin court painter Theodor Schloepke. From 1867-69 she studied in Berlin with Karls Steffeck and from 1869-72 private lessons in Düsseldorf with Emil Volkers and Ernst Bosch. She followed with Private lessons in Berlin with Gustav Graef, then she was in Munich for three years before she returned to Schwerin. From 1880 she lived again in Munich and took study trips to Paris and London. Minna Stocks was known best as a German animal and landscape painter. She was a member of the Association of Berlin Artists, the Munich Artists 'Association and the Munich Artists' Cooperative.
