Shim Mun-seop, a modern sculptor who has known Korean sculpture worldwide, has drawn attention from the art world for his innovative sculptures that break away from traditional concepts. The artist has been working to reveal the physical properties of materials obtained from nature, such as wood, stone, soil, and iron.

After graduating from Seoul National University, the artist received attention by participating in various international events such as the Paris Youth Biennale in France from 1971 to 1975 and the Venice Biennale in Italy in 1995. From 2011, he began to exhibit painting works as well as sculptures.
