Outside of the theatre, Georgiadis was also an accomplished painter, having studied painting and architecture in Greece and at Columbia University, New York. In 1953, Georgiadis was awarded a scholarship to study design at The Slade, where he later worked as a lecturer. Recognised during his lifetime, he was awarded with a BAFTA for Best British Costume Design in 1966, a CBE in 1984, and in 1999 was admitted to the Greek Academy of Arts.
