    Norman Edgar is a Scottish painter known for his expressive landscapes, portraits, and still lifes, working in the Scottish Colourist tradition. Born in Paisley in 1948, Edgar studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1966 to 1970 under David Donaldson, and later taught there until 1990, when he left to pursue painting full-time.

    A long-time resident of Gourock, on the south bank of the River Clyde, Edgar frequently draws inspiration from marine activity and coastal views. His compositions often feature scenes from the Firth of Clyde and the French Riviera, particularly Villefranche, rendered with painterly spontaneity and vibrant color.
