    Norman J. McCaig (1929 Bangor, county Down - 2001)
    Norman McCaig came from an artistic background and was interested in painting from his school days. After studying at Belfast Collage of Art, he travelled to Paris to Academy of Art Vavin where he became good friends and exhibited in 1948 with fellow Irish Joseph Sefton, set designer for Edith Piaf. He is mostly known for his landscapes, seascapes and harbour scenes where he uses rich colours applied liberally to achieve an atmospheric and dramatic effect. Norman McCaig was also a very accomplished pianist and played in many of Belfast nightspots.
