    Odysseus Fokas was born in Romania in 1857 and died in Athens in 1946. He finished elementary school in Galati Romania and high school in Athens. He studied law in France while taking painting lessons in free academies in Paris. After graduation he entirely devoted himself to painting, while continuing his studies at the Academia Colorossi.

    In 1885 he returned to Athens and worked as a cartoonist in the newspaper Asty. In 1915 he was appointed curator of the National Gallery of Greece in which, after his death, he bequeathed his collections of art. By the end of 19th century Fokas focused exclusively on landscape painting and the search of light effects in nature to highlight the pioneer and paithrist...
