    Ohito Ashoona (1952)

    An Inuit* Canadian sculptor and graphic artist, Ohito Ashoona (disc number* E7-1304) was born in a camp near Cape Dorset (now Kinngait) and has lived in the environs of Cape Dorset/ Kinngait for most of his life. His works are in several major Canadian museum collections such as the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Winnipeg Art Gallery*.

    His mediums include stone and bone carvings, etchings* and Chine Collé* prints. His subjects include figures, Inuit genre, mythology, and Arctic wildlife (e.g. bears, birds, and narwhals).
