    Orestis Kanellis was born in Smyrna in 1910 and died in Athens in 1979. He studied for two years at the Medical School of Athens University, then left to go to Paris, where he painted for two years and attended free schools, mainly ''Academia de la Grande Chaumiere''.

    In Paris he met the art critic E. Teriade, who praised the painting, and by C. Gounaropoulos who taught him much about the technique of painting. The topography includes steriana landscapes with particular emphasis on olive trees, and seafood with calm seas.

    He presented his work in many solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Venice Biennale, 1934, Stockholm, New York., Moscow, Alexandria Biennale 1954, Lugano, Brussels etc...
