    After thorough training in stage and figure painting in Vienna and Munich, Othmar Brioschi studied at the master school for landscape painting under Eduard von Lichtenfels from 1882. He won the Grand State Prize in that year, which enabled him to spend two years in Rome. Brioschi then moved his permanent residence to Rome, became a professor at the Accademia di San Luca, and lived there until his death in 1912.

    His paintings show the Eternal City and its surroundings in a wide variety of moods and seasons.
