    Otto Axer (1906 - 1983) Otto Axer studied until 1929 at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Wojciech Weiss and Karol Frycz, then in Paris, where he finished his studies in 1930.

    He exhibited since 1929 at home and abroad. In the interwar years he used temporarily the nickname "Rex". From the early years, parallel to painting, drawing and (sporadically) graphics, he was involved in stage design.

    From 1932 he collaborated with theaters in Lviv, Lodz and Warsaw. During the war, he was in the Warsaw ghetto, working as a drawing teacher at the School of Crafts. From autumn 1942, he was hiding with his wife's family, Bronislawa, née Mroczkowska.
