He worked as an artist in Rome from 1898 to 1915, where he had already met Max Klinger during a previous visit to the city in 1891. He worked as an artist in Rome from 1898 to 1915, where he had already met Max Klinger during a previous visit to the city in 1891. Like Klinger, Greiner specialized in the depiction of nudes, for which mythological subjects provided an excellent opportunity.
