    Otto Hunte studied architecture and painting and was active as a painter until 1918. Afterwards, he primarily worked as a costume and set designer, working closely together with Fritz Lang.

    He designed the sets for the film Metropolis, among others, and more and more found his expressionistic style. His best-known works include the film sets for Metropolis (1926), Der blaue Engel (1930) and Die Drei von der Tankstelle (1930).
