    Otto Reinhold Jacobi (b. 1812 / d. 1901)

    Otto Jacobi was born on February 27, 1812 in Konigsberg, Russia.

    From the time he was ten, Jacobi showed a talent as an artist. He had two teachers in his early years, drawing teacher, Christian Ernst Rauschke, and portrait painter Andreas Knorre. At only 16, Jocobi left home to teach at at the Institute of the Deaf of Königsberg.

    With financial support from his fathers friends, he was able to study under Karl Friedrich Schulz at the Academy of Arts in Berlin in 1830. In September of that same year, Jacobi had his first exhibition. In c. 1834, he was able to attend the prestigious academy in Dusseldorf by winning a three year scholarship.
