Paran G'Schrey was born the son of a wealthy Indian father and German painter Luise Haustein 1927 in Calcutta (India). When he was three years old his mother went to Germany and married her cousin, the artist Ludwig G'Schrey, who adopted Paran. From 1933 he lived with his parents in Berlin.

After the war he studied from 1945 to 1948 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with Willi Baumeister and from 1948 to 1955 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin with Hans Kuhn and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.
