    Paul Rebeyrolle was born in Eymoutiers (Haute-Vienne) in 1926. He moved to Paris in 1944 where he studied at the Grande Chaumiere. His painting show influences of Picasso, Van Gogh, Soutine or Courbet.

    In 1950 he was awarded the Prix de la Jeune Peinture and in 1951 the Prix Fénéon. In addition, he exhibited at the Salon Indépendants in 1944 and a year later at the salons Automne and Tuileries.

    Rebeyrolle is considered one of the leading painters of the French realists. In the mid-1950s his style became more abstract and dynamic. The technique of mixed media and collage also found its way into his works. Rebeyrolle died in 2005.
