Peter Fischli (1952) and David Weiss (1946-2012) began their collaboration in 1979. Peter Fischli attended the Academia delle Belle Arti in Urbino and Bologna from 1975-1977. David Weiss studied at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich and Basel, where he focused on sculpture.

In their photographs, films, sculptures and multimedia installations they put everyday subjects and objects in a new and surprising artistic context and question them in a humorous way, thereby they are compared with artists such as Marcel Duchaump, Jean Tinguely or Dieter Roth.
