    Ever since his debut in the early 1950s, Philip von Schantz has always been recognized as a painter and graphic artist. He was most loved for his pictures of berries in large piles, fruits and potatoes in boxes and in buckets. Fruits and carrots he provided with surreal and magical detail gave surrealistic character. He had usually grown the objects himself or found them in nature. His images were often ambiguous and characteristic of his way of working was the utilization of a variant of the one-point perspective, where the perspective lines run parallel and the image spreads across the surface.
