Cornu’s taste for the female beauty should not make us forget that he was a talented portraitist and an excellent painter of nature, especially of flowers and landscapes. In fact, in all these genre, the only motivation worthy of his interest in his eyes was the beauty, that he discovered in order to idealize it and to perpetuate it.
Like Bonnard, Cornu seems to have painted not only for his love of painting but he also wished to retain, to show and share happy moments.fully devote it to his true passion painting.
Later in his life financial troubles led him to move to Morocco. While there he continued his painting, improving his art and taking in the abundance of beautiful colors, connected with Eastern tapestries.
On his return to France, Cornu settled in the area of Aix in Provence where he lived for the remainder of his life exposed to the area and its surroundings and vibrant colors.
