    Pierre Guillaume is the pseudonym adopted by the Dutch artist Peter Willemse for his "plein air" paintings. Guillaume began painting at age five and never received any formal artistic training. In his twenties and thirties, he traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States, seeking inspiration and enriching cultural experiences.

    Guillaume initially concentrated on the figural and realistic images, gaining a solid reputation and following in his native country the Netherlands. Between 1980 and 1990, he had several one-man shows and group exhibitions throughout Holland. In 2002, Guillaume abandoned his realistic painting technique - and his studio - and began to experiment with a freer, more spontaneous...
