    Pierre Louis Léger Vauthier was a successful French painter who was born in an unknown year. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Maxime Lalanne and exhibited at the Salon from 1878 to 1881. In 1881, he married fellow painter Marie Olympe Louise Gaudfernau in Paris. Throughout his career, Vauthier received numerous awards and honors, including a third class medal in 1887, a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900, and being named a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1895. He passed away in Beauchamp in 1916 and was buried in the cemetery of Montmartre.
