    Raphaël Lonné, French artist, began his working life at the age of twelve as a laborer, then letter carrier in Montfort-en-Chalosse. During the Second World War, threatened with deportation, he went underground. After the war, Lonné became a letter carrier in Dax, a position he held until his retirement.

    Around 1950, he discovered drawing following a spiritual experience which, according to him, endowed him with the faculties of a "medium-drawer": his hand was directed by spirits. From then on, he drew every evening, producing works of lace-like finesse.
