    Raymond James Coxon was a versatile artist born in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. He served in the Cavalry in Palestine during World War I before studying at Leeds College of Art and the Royal College of Art. Coxon was known for his work as a painter, mural artist, and printmaker. He was associated with prominent artists like Henry Moore and Jacob Epstein, forming the British Independent Society in 1927. Coxon also taught at Richmond School of Art and exhibited at various galleries in London. He later became an Official War Artist during World War II and had a joint show with his wife, artist Edna Ginesi, in 1985.
