    Baron Raymond de Meester of Betzenbroeck was born in Mechelen on December 1, 1904 and died on November 30, 1995 in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. Meester wasa Belgian sculptor. He was a self-taught animal sculptor and is considered a sculptor of "movement and feelings". His works are found in several Belgian museums: in Ixelles (Bear playing), in Saint-Gilles (Tigre seis grognant), in Mechelen (Autruche des îles Somalis), in Liège (Foal of fifteen days licking), in Tervuren park (Lying down). Many foreign museums also keep works by the artist: Paris, Lisbon, Oslo, Buenos Aires, Riga, Tallinn, Cairo, Mexico. One of the best-known works is his roaring lion, located at the Malou park in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, opposite the boulevard de la Woluw...
