    Ricardo Brugada Y Panizo was a Spanish artist who studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and furthered his training in Rome, Paris, and Madrid. He became famous for his paintings of Andalusian customs and Arab courtyards, as well as his portraiture and genre painting.

    He was a teacher and professor at several Schools of Fine Arts in Spain and won numerous prizes and awards for his artwork. He developed a style marked by beauty, color, and narrative. He is represented in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires and private national collections.

    Born in Barcelona in 1867, he learned from Antonio Caba. He lived part of his life in Andalusia, a region that he portrayed in costumbrista paintings. Brugada, who was in charge of Artistic Drawing at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, died in 1919 in his hometown.
