    Richard Falkenberg was born in 1875 in Elberfeld. Falkenberg, who became a Landscape painter, began his training from 1893-95 as he studied at the Düsseldorf Academy under Heinrich Lauenstein and Olof Jernberg. There he worked as an assistant teacher until 1898. Falkenberg sent exhibitions to Düsseldorf from 1904 and the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. From 1907-08 and 1922-25 he was a member of the Düsseldorf artists' association "Malkasten". Falkenberg remained active in Düsseldorf. He was influenced by Olaf Jernberg and turned towards the moderate impressionism. He focused on landscape paintings and especially the area around the Lower Rhine was one of his favorite subjects.
