Richard "Rick" Lisle Smith (1937-2010 ) Louisiana

Richard "Rick" Lisle Smith was born on April 4, 1937 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Educated at the University of Florida and the University of the Americas in Mexico, he graduated cum laude in June 1961, with a degree in International Relations. From 1961 until 1974 his work required him to travel extensively in the Southeast for Gulf Oil.

In 1964 Smith began to paint as a hobby, trying a variety of techniques and experimenting with form, style, color and design. He began developing his realistic primitive style, and in May of 1974 obtained a license to set up his easel in Jackson Square, Louisiana.
