    The Village Voice said of Henry:"Henry watching is always a fascinating activity." Other admirers have compared him to Picasso in the sense of being the major transformative artist of his time.

    Robert Henry was born in Brooklyn in 1933 and maintained an extended attachment to his New York roots during his early training and professional life. He received a BA from Brooklyn College and switching from engineering to art studied under Ad Reinhardt and Kurt Seligman. Perhaps his most significant educational experience was the three years he spent in N.Y. and Provincetown with legendary teacher/artist Hans Hoffman.
