    Robert (Adolf Maria) Libeski (1892-1988)

    Born on March 13th, 1892 in Aachen, Germany. His father, Adolf Dagobert Libeski, was an academically trained painter. Primarily self-taught as a painter, he became a member of the Vienna Sezession on April 22, 1952 and was a friend of Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Wander Bertoni and Oskar Kososchka. In an exhibition pamphlet, he himself names his contact with Léger, Fujita, Pascin de Veroquier, Maillol and cites influences by Marquet and Braque. His oeuvre is informed by Expressionism, Cubism and Abstract Expressionism.
