About Robert Ripley

  • Biography

    Born in Santa Rosa, CA in 1893. Ripley studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1911-12, and began his career as a cartoonist with the Chronicle in 1926. He worked in San Francisco until the 1930s and then settled in NYC. He died there on May 27, 1949. His series "Believe It Or Not" was nationally syndicated. Member: Society of Illustrators (NYC).
