Robert Wogensky decided to become a painter at the sight of " Guernica " of Picasso at the exhibition of 1937. His artistic studies at the René Jaudon studio (where he had a classmate Jean-Claude Guignebert whom he befriended) and then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris were quickly interrupted by the war. After the Liberation, he stayed with Jean Lurçat in Lanzac and worked with him on some of his posters.
