    Rodolphe Duguay was born on Monday, April 27, 1891, in Nicolet, Quebec. A painter, sketch artist, engraver and illustrator, he began taking courses in fine arts at the Monument Nationale in Montreal in February, 1911.

    On May 30, 1919, Rodolphe entered the studio of Suzor-Coté as a student where he lived until he decided to leave for Paris.

    He entered the Academie Julian in Paris on October 14, 1920, also attending the Academies Grande Chaumière, Adler and Colarossi. While in France, Rodolphe Duguay visited Brittany and Normandy and toured Italy as well.
