Roger Nellens is a self-taught Belgian artist who was interested in the intersection and contrast between machines and nature.

In his 1988 catalogue at Elisabeth Franck Gallery in Brussels, Pontus Hulten says of him in the introduction: “Roger Nellens’ art comes from a very great source which is this attachment that we have for things that are close to us, that serve us… Always sparkling and witty [his art] demonstrates devotion to their beauty.
