In his reflections on Roman Artymowski's work, his color sensitivity, strongly rooted in the Kapists' tradition, seems extremely important. It is worth noting that the artist graduated from the studio of the eminent colorist Eugeniusz Eibisch, from where he came out particularly sensitive to the color nuances and textures. A careful observation of the outside world and a fascination with the changeability of nature in Artymowski's creative achievements have been combined with an ascetic, clear imaging and a sophisticated, expressive color palette. Artymowski, initially a realist, gradually moved away from figurative painting towards informel, and finally adopted the convention of geometric abstraction.
