Ross Ellsworth Penhall (1959)

A popular western Canadian painter and printmaker, Ross Penhall was born and raised in West Vancouver, British Columbia, where he still works and lives.

His primary medium is oil on canvas, however he has worked in acrylic, watercolor, graphite, colored pencil, stone lithograph*, and etching*. His primary subjects are landscapes, gardens, trees, farmland, forests, urban parks, and suburban street scenes. His style is Fauvism*. The AskART images are excellent illustrations of his work.

For years a full-time firefighter in West Vancouver and part-time painter, Penhall, now a fulltime painter, is considered self taught. However, he has taken courses in art and printmaking at Capilano College (...
