    A Canadian painter, Ross Robertshaw was born in Toronto, Ontario, where he lived until 1973 when he became a full-time painter and moved to Buckhorn, Ontario (about 80 miles northeast of Toronto), where he established a studio in his home and opened Rockcroft Gallery, next door, to sell his works.

    His primary medium was oil paint on Masonite* or canvas. His subjects included backyards, urban scenes, wilderness and rural landscapes, and portraits. The painting locations are primarily in Toronto, Haliburton, and Algonquin Park. His styles were Expressionism*, Fauvism*, and Plein-Air Painting*.
