However, Höger primarily focused on genre painting and specialized in the depiction of gallant genre scenes which were deeply inspired by Rococo. Only occasionally he also painted contemporary scenes, as well as landscapes and biblical motifs. Höger was active in Vienna, but he must have visited the surrounding areas and villages many times.
