    Also known as Balabene, Rudolf Raimund Bullabene was an Austrian painter, sculptor, and ceramist (1890 Zurndorf/Burgenland to 1968 Vienna). He initially studied philosophy and linguistics at the University of Prague.

    Between 1909 and 1914, he temporarily turned to acting and became a member of the Royal German State Theatre in Prague. Around 1914, he spent time in Dachau. After the First World War, he turned to journalism and from 1930 to painting, self-taught as a painter. He was persecuted as an anti-fascist during the occupation of Austria and was temporarily interned in the Dachau concentration camp.
