    Rudolf Riege (born March 9, 1892 in Hameln, † November 22, 1959 in Hameln) was a German painter and graphic artist.

    Rudolf Riege spent his childhood in Hameln and began his studies at the art school in Weimar in 1909 with the intention of becoming a painter. In Weimar he was influenced by Walther Klemm, whose woodcut sequences inspired him.

    When he continued his training at the Bauhaus in Weimar as a master class student in 1919 after the First World War, Expressionism was at the height of its development. This is where Riege found his personal style: as a graphic artist, he mainly worked in woodcuts, with book illustrations playing a prominent role.
