    Rudolph Thygesen was born in 1880. He first studied in Oslo, with the Norwegian female artist Harriet Backer.

    For a short time, he attended the Anton Ažbe School in Munich. After that, he studied in Paris at the Académie Colarossi. From 1919-1920 he was once again in Paris, and studying with André Lhothe.

    Inspired by the numerous movements in modern art, Thygesen changed his style from impressionist landscapes to harmonic and more decorative compositions. He executed several frescoes and wall decorations.
