Available records in Frankfurt, Germany, list a Rudolf Weber as working under the artistic direction of a number of topographical landscape painters at the Stadel Institute, Frankfort, during the 1890s where an atmospheric and plein air approach to painting select scenes of nature was taught to a number of central European student landscape painters who eventually traveled throughout Europe capturing sublime and painterly views of the Romantic landscape and man’s place in it.
