    Ruth Dunken Harrison was from Waco and Dallas. Painter, graphic artist, teacher; Harrison was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and attended Baylor University, Waco; The University of Colorado, Boulder; the Art Institute of Chicago, the National School of Art, Washington, D.C. and the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence.

    In Dallas she was a student of Martha Simkins and studied at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts under Otis Dozier. In Chautauqua, New York, she was a student of Revington Arthur and H. Richard Duhme.

    Harrison taught privately in Dallas (1948-57) and was art director and instructor at the Hockaday School (1958-95).

    Harrison died in Dallas and was buried in Waco.
