    Working from his studio in Chinatown in Manhattan, Ryan McGinness creates large-scale paintings and other artwork that mimics iconic images of modern society or ones he sees in his dreams. He says that "the idea is to collapse the icons and juxtapose them so they are almost meaningless. . . .I'm interested in the absurd and the surreal readings." Asserting that "I'm just going to make what I want", he is also committed to not worrying about distinctions between prints and originals, graphics and painting, and art and commercial art.
